Bus Employees Friendly Society: Who Are We? At the Bus Employees Friendly Society, we have served bus
company employees in and around London and the South East since 1918. Our
membership is primarily available to anyone employed by a bus or coach company.
This month’s blog at the Bus Employees Friendly Society
looks at who we are and what we do. For more information, call us in Reigate on

About Our Society Established in 1918, we have been in business for over 100
years. We serve bus company employees throughout London and the South East,
helping them in times of sickness, bereavement and retirement. We currently
have over 450 members from the transport industry.
Furthermore, we are registered under the Friendly Societies
Act 1974 . We are also regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority and
the Financial Conduct Authority.
For as little as 80p per week, you will be entitled to a
range of valuable benefits.
Mutual Benefits At the Bus Employees Friendly Society, we are a mutual
organisation. We put our members first and only work for and answer to you.
Mutual organisations typically have over 100 years of experience in providing
for the savings and protection needs of their customers.
Our mutuals are responsible to customers like you, not
shareholders. Also, on average, mutual customers are more likely to recommend a
mutual organisation rather than an external shareholder.
According to independent surveys, mutual organisations offer
higher levels of customer satisfaction. At the Bus Employees Friendly Society,
we want to try harder for our customers.
Retirement Savings & Life Cover Plans The Retirement Savings Plan makes a tax-free capital payment
on retirement at the age of 68. This plan is open to members and their
partners.
In the unfortunate event of death during the first 2 years
of membership, a refund of 75% of contributions will be made.
In addition to the Retirement Savings plan is the Life Cover
Plan. This pays out a tax-free lump sum on death before the age of 68. This is
only open to members who have already taken out a Savings Plan and costs an
extra £1 a week.
